CEO

As CEO, it is my role to head up the Footprint team in providing advice and music licensing solutions for our international client base. I joined Footprint in 2016, when it was already a thriving business owned by music rights specialist, Paul Kempton. Five years later I took over as CEO and, in 2022, we completed a management buy-out, which saw myself and Hannah Scott-Stone become proud joint company owners.

Since then, Hannah and I have built up a fantastic team at Footprint, bringing in a breadth and depth of expertise, knowledge and licensing support. At the same time, we have overseen the expansion of the business into all European markets, North America, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia, as well as into new areas of broadcast and streaming, such as FAST TV.

I have over 20 years’ experience of music licensing in the broadcast and streaming industry, having started out as a lawyer, and then becoming Senior Lawyer and Head of Music Rights at the leading Nordic entertainment company now known as Viaplay Group. That role gave me invaluable experience of music licensing in the Nordics, which I continue to use to this day, and I believe that we at Footprint now have unparalleled expertise in the region, having been entrusted to handle the collecting society licensing for numerous other Nordic broadcasters and streaming services.

I have always had a European and global outlook, having grown up in the Netherlands and travelled extensively over the years, and feel privileged to be able to work with people from across the world. I still love to travel but spend a lot of my spare time closer to home these days – playing hockey, cycling, going to gigs and trying – mostly in vain – to grow some vegetables on my allotment.
