I joined Footprint in April 2021 after working for over 20 years as a lawyer in the broadcasting industry, first at Turner Broadcasting (now part of Warner Bros. Discovery) and then as Director of Legal Affairs at NBC Universal. Music licensing was one of my key responsibilities in both of these roles, and I worked closely with Footprint throughout, whilst also gaining exposure to a wide variety of other media and commercial law issues affecting broadcasters, with the focus primarily on content acquisition and distribution.
As Licensing Director at Footprint, I’m responsible for negotiating music licences for many of our key clients, including NBC Universal, Warner Bros. Discovery and Samsung, covering not just the UK and Ireland, but much of Europe, Australia and India. On top of this, I am responsible for reviewing and negotiating all our licence agreements and other contracts and keeping my eye out for changes in the legal framework for music licensing and other regulatory matters.
Away from the office I have a keen interest in history and photography. I have co-authored a number of books on the First World War and regularly contribute to other publications and podcasts on the subject and visit the battlefields of France, Belgium and further afield whenever I can.
